My Story - Sherrill
I have always wanted to be a travel agent. I started classes about 25 years ago but the classes closed down before I could finish my certification. With the boom of the internet I was able to start booking my own travel. After three mishaps with suppliers online where I lost my vacations and my money - I decided there has to be a better way for people to get vacation service. After each mishap, I went to a local travel agent who was able to fix the problem and get me on my way. After three times I wondered why I didn't just go to the travel agent to start with and save myself grief and lost money. Even though the agent was able to get me where I wanted to go for a little more cost the time I saved with them handling everything and being secure in my trip was worth more to me than what I thought I was saving my doing it myself on the internet. I was actually losing money by booking online in the first place when I wasn't able to get a return on my money or time that I had taken to research and book. When I retired from my career after 31 years I went back to college and received my Travel Agent certification, signed on with a host agency and learned the tips and tricks to getting the best and most secure travel for my money. People work hard for their money and can't afford in this day and age to just throw away $10 let alone the amazing cost for a family getaway that could upwards of $1000 per person. When you book online you are going with someone you have no connection with and usually don't have your best interest at heart. I am retired so I don't have to rely on receiving income for my service. I do it for the love of trying to make this a better world and that people should be able to travel stressfree. Afterall, isn't that what vacation is all about? I don't accept every customer that calls. I limit my clients to approximately three a month or maybe a group a month so that they get my undivided attention and I can concentrate on them. For my services you get one on one attention, planning sessions, and if needed, face to face consultation with members who are involved in the planning stages. I will give advice to whomever contacts me, but that doesn't mean I will handle every transaction. I have a list of suppliers that come highly recommended and are bonded so I know when I use them, they will be there to the very end. I have developed a relationship with these guys and take no chances with my clients getting a bad deal. I prefer to have clients that have been recommended from other clients because a recommendation is the highest form of approval that you can get. I don't charge a fee for my services and usually get the same price or lower on a package than a client can but with my services - I do all the research and stand behind the booking with my supplier. My supplier pays me and that is enough.
Hope has recently joined the crew in late May 2018. She has traveled extensively to the Mexican region of the Yucatan Penisula and is well versed in all-inclusive destinations in the Caribbean. If you are thinking of a girls getaway or a honeymoon destination or any other vacation that would include a stay in an All-Inclusive resort - Hope is your girl.
Jennifer joined the agency in April 2019. Jennifer is very family oriented and has been an avid community supporter. She comes from a business background and loves to travel. Jennifer is well-organized and loves researching her destination. She is still learning her niche but loves the beaches, cruising, skiing and New York City. Give a big shout out to Jennifer Reynolds.
